DSV Launches New Shanghai-Chicago Air Cargo Charter Service Starting May 13

DSV announced today the launch of a direct air freight charter service connecting Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), commencing May 13. The route will utilize dedicated freighters with weekly frequencies tailored to customer demand.

Enhanced Capacity for Critical Shipments
The service targets time-sensitive cargo, including:

  • Electronics (semiconductors, consumer tech)
  • E-commerce (cross-border parcels)
  • Automotive (urgent parts)
  • Pharmaceuticals (temperature-controlled shipments)

DSV emphasized the route’s ability to bypass congested ocean freight lanes and reduce lead times by 80% compared to sea transport.

Strategic Expansion
Chicago was selected for its:

  1. Hub status: Seamless onward truck/air connections across North America
  2. E-commerce demand: Proximity to major fulfillment centers
  3. Seasonal demand: Peak season capacity assurance

Operational Details

  • Aircraft: Boeing 747-8F or similar capacity
  • Transit time: ~14 hours (gate-to-gate)
  • Customs: Pre-cleared cargo options available
